Mortal Kombat thread

Post  mrcrowley24 on Tue Aug 31, 2010 6:45 am

Any MK fans here? I see that you have Noob Saibot image on your name profile Mj, are u a fan?

I love Mortal Kombat. I remember spending my pocket money (a whole $2!) on MK2 arcade machine at my local shopping centre back in the day.
Then I got a snes and got them all. I thought MK4 was alright, but MK struggled as a result of MK mythologies and special forces. Then Deadly Alliance came out on the last generation consoles. It had an interesting storyline, new characters and differing fighting styles. Its sequels were also good, but unfortunately Vs DC went PG and was poorly received.

Mortal Kombat 9 comes out next year and looks fantastic. It goes back to the storyline of MK2 (arguably the best MK), with 2D/3D graphics and gory fatalities! Cannot wait.

Here is a preview of the next MK and even if you didnt like the last MK, take a look at it as it may get you excited!

The games are a bit of fun, but I wouldn't call myself a fan.

Yeah bro.. I WAS a huge fan of MK... Played it hardcore up until they turned 3D. Then I slowly died out on it..
NOOB has always been a Dark character i liked.. And he had that Unlimited Combo Cheapy on Ultimate MK haha...

I still play the classics.. MK2 was one of my favourites, and Ultimate MK. I use to own most of them on Megadrive... Still got the Ultimate MK cartridge in my drawer even haha...

Every MK fan must remember this code
A, B, A, C, A, B, B
Ol' the memories

The latest Movie coming out looks pretty cool 2...

Im keen.

I quite likes the Conquest Mode on the later games. Plus the tetris-like game was fun. I will probably get this when it comes out.
Zombie Liu-Kang was the best haha

Yes MK2 was the best! I enojyed Ultimate MK3 as well. I didnt mind the conquest mode in the later games as well Tristo.

The best thing about Deadly Alliance was when they killed off Liu Kang and Shao Khan. Didn't see that coming!!!

Those ads you have been seeing Mj about a new MK movie is in fact a viral campaign that someone is doing to gain support for what his version of the next MK movie should be. At the moment there is no funding for it, but the campaign went quite well so I wouldn't be surprised if they do a go- ahead, especially considering there is a new MK game around the corner.

I liked the original movie, but its sequel MK: Annihilation, was fucking shit.

For fuck's sake, Australia sucks. Early reports has that MK has been rejected for classification. I am tired of this shit. I will import the fucker.

According to reliable retail sources, the much-anticipated fighting game reboot, Mortal Kombat, has been refused classification (RC) by the Australian Classification Board.

Our source, who requested to remain anonymous, received an email stating the game "will not be released in Australia."

It also requested the retail outlet remove all references to the game - signage and display cases - as well as cancel all preorders in Australia.

The email added that the decision might be overturned in the future, but these steps were currently necessary.

Here's the official statement from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment:

The highly anticipated video game Mortal Kombat, published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) in Australia, has been refused classification by the Australian Classification Board and will not release in Australia. We are extremely disappointed that Mortal Kombat, one of the world's oldest and most successful video games franchises, will not be available to mature Australian gamers.

WBIE would not market mature content where it is not appropriate for the audience. We understand that not all content is for every audience, but there is an audience for mature gaming content and it would make more sense to have the R18+ classification in Australia. As a member of the iGEA, WBIE is reviewing all options available at this time.

Just get the game from playasia. I have no idea why they banned it in aus but not the previous MK games or god of war games. I mean there is some serious graphic violence in god of war 3.

I buy every game from Playasia except for the big titles (KZ3 etc) because of DLC issues.
Games are literally $45 AUD on the site now because the dollar is so good.

Are the DLC compatibility issues only with US versions? Are UK versions ok? Its just that I would be keen to get MK DLC when it does come out.

As long as we share the same PS Store, it should be ok. I think we have the same store as the Poms.
I buy the Asian version of the games so DLC, promo codes and online passes (fuck EA) don't work.
