bro ive been on the same buzz ever since, wanting to buy broken ps3's but they still sell for like 150 haha ..

And I meant I bought 1 from the warehouse, it had a 7 day return policy, if everything is fine...
I just said, Im returning this, as it doesnt do the job I wanted and want to look for a more expensive unit No questions asked, returned, cash back.. (If they asked whats the job, I woulda said paint strip lol... (But the unit I bought was like $25 so I could say it was a cheap unit and wanted a better 1, if yours is already at the top of the range, then I dont know what you could say haha...

Thats cool, I have my back-up UK ps3 so I will get that one going. The only thing is that its an 80 gig fat version and probably will YLOD one day as well.


Does anyone know if the slim versions have a good recored of not YLODíng?

They don't get YLOD because they don't have the PS2 chipset, which is the one that fries and leaks onto the GPU to cause YLOD.... i think.

My 40gb is still going strong after 3 years now. It has had some misfortunes and I now believe it to be dieing.

Yeah from my understanding of the YLOD

All phats eventually get the YLOD, because of how their structure is, the heat is not transferred out of the case good enough (And after time that harms pieces inside (Forgot the name ), I heard the 60gb are worst, because the POWER unit gets hotter then all other fats, and also they have a different fan etc and the extra parts that is needed for the ps2 playback etc. but my 40gb got the YLOD so I guess it doesnt matter

With the slim, they have air vents around the whole unit, so less heat flows better.

For my FAT, i created holes on the bottom panel then covered them with that stocking stuff lol, doesnt look the best by itself standing up, but then sit it on a USB Laptop Cooling Pad so it blows more air into the system when I turn it on..

Yeah the phats are bad for YLOD. And you're totally right, its a heat related problem.
Mine must have done it at least dozen times, but fortunately, its totally fixable.
And since I did the hardware mod (info in my intro post) I haven't had a single problem.
