PS3 Headsets

Post  Brad on Thu Nov 11, 2010 4:07 pm

Looking to buy a headset for PC/PS3 gaming and I've got a fairly loose budget.

Anyone here have properly enclosed headphones that offer game audio through the headset as well as in game voice?

Example headsets are the turtle beach series
- http://www.turtlebeach.com/products.aspx

and the Tritton AX Pro's

ha, I just bought some new music headphones. Got a pair of Sennheiser HD 215 enclosed.

As for headsets, I use a $30 logitech open headset. Not the best, but it works.

Brad, I am seriously looking at the Turtle Beach DPX21's...

The link above is to the unit with the 7.1 sound processing box etc included. You can get them shipped from states for under $200.

You can buy the headsets (without the processing box) in Oz since the beginning of Nov from places like JB for AU$119.

Ended up buying these at EB games for $99
They fit the bill nicely, I've heard a few cons from people though.
cord is too long - Fine unless you sit right next to the screen and if then just tie the cables up.
emits a wining noise when sound isn't playing - This complaint is just stupid, when there is no sound coming through just take them off your head.

Do they still emit surround sound without that special box?

I thought about getting these back when I played mw2 heaps.

No, only the DPX21's are surround sound, mine doesn't have that box so they're just stereo headphones.
I haven't tried them online yet though, maybe tonight.

I'd only get the surround ones. I have perfectly good logitech headphones for voice.

So will the full game audio come through the headset? If so, let me know what you think.

Love my px21's.
I can have them on for ages without it hurting, no wining noises and the mic is pretty damn clear.

I would assume that Topr's would be the exact same except with better bass and Of course surround sound.

im looking for headphones...these seem a little hardcore for me. Are they good for watching movies too?

I dont mind the price, just seems like lots of cords and fiddling around
