Is a disc stuck in someone's PS3? If so, they are easy to get out. 30 minutes is all you need to get to the disc drive, take out the disc, then reassemble the PS3.

Yeah GT5 is stuck in his YLOD'd PS3.

Don't know if it will work mate, but yeah your welcome to give it a shot. I haven't put anything back on that drive so she is right to go.

Well after 1.5 hours, 3 pizzas and an 8 pk of beer Azza and I did some major PS3 surgery and my PS3 is working!

Firstly, we changed over our dvd unit drives so Azza could get his GT5 game disc and also to see if this was the problem with mine. It wasn't. We then swapped over the actual PS3 laser circuit board from his to mine and it worked! My discs now pop up on the XMB and I can play them! Azza's PS3 is fucked tho, but at least we got his disc back!

Nah mate, she should be a permanent fix until Azza's laser's fuck up. The circuit board is from Azza's 60GB PS3 so it is old and like mine, could malfunction, but by then my UK PS3 will be here!

We had to keep ryans circuit board from his DVD drive then pop it onto my DVD drive. Both circuit boards need to b from the same device

So you dont need to do a laser swap?

Just as long as you grab the circuit board and whole unit, then you can swap it into another ps3?

I had always thought that each Blue-Ray was made to work for each ps3....

nah fuck pulling the laser out... we just put the whole blu ray drive into his ps3. It was a matter of unscrewing 5 screws holding the circuit board on the underside of the drive and about 6 ribbon cables. Only the circuit boards r married

Our (minty fresh) repaired PS3 died again today. It has had regular use and lasted 14 months since being fixed so thats been a good amount of time I think.
