PS3 Homebrew / Jailbreak

Just putting this info out there...

If you want to deal with Homebrew etc you have to have firmware 3.50 or lower and a development board. (Minimus / Maximus) are the best ATM as you can use RAW files that users upload e.g. emulators etc, PS3break and the likes of "Company models" you need to wait til they get there hands on the raw file and put it into a format their USB board can understand..

3.50 needs to be downgraded to 3.41 or lower as they are the only firmware ATM that can run homebrew apps etc..
Ill get more info later when I get to play around with it...

If you want to bypass updating from 3.50 to 3.55 you can change the DNS in the networking settings to ...

Does than DNS trick still work?
I'm on 3.41 and have been hell keen to get onto PSN and buy Dead Nation..

Obviously been very reluctant since they changed the TOS to force updating..

My only concern is if they'll ban the PSN account or the console?

Yeah Ima taking the risk so Ill see how it goes if I get banned (Console or user wise), I have a YLOD recovered No warranty model lol so Im keeping it on 3.50 waiting for that free downgrader to pop out as I have a minimus that cant be used just yet.. But it definately works if your on 3.50 and input the DNS, that was lastnight, will have to check again tonight...

And BAN'ing, im pretty sure it would be easier to fix the DNS patch rather then ban every 1 that's using a DNS? and in saying that, DNS shouldnt be a problem? I guess using PSN thats not 3.55 is though lol...

Well be careful, because when I google the DNS trick, by time, recent posts indicate that the trick worked when the 3.55 rolled out, but was closed less than 24hrs later (ie its now closed). I'm pretty sure the downgraders came out last night (for the AT90usb162 based boards). But from what I've read, they are destructive downgraders, so you'll lose all of your content..

That's way funny! I'm running a recovered YLOD, out of warranty Phat too with a AVR Maximus! LOL!

FYI, if you're considering a replacement console, http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/ will be selling 50 320Gb Slim Consoles + Move Starter packs for $350 this arvo.
There is only 50, so they will go very quickly, I was considering getting a replacement so I can play online, PSN etc etc but I think I will hold out.

Yeah I want a replacement NEW slim for online only, and use my (Waiting to YLOD again model for homebrew ,,,
yeap the downloader just came out, im investigating as we speak haha...

Now to decide if I want to downgrade just yet or wait for a new PS3 ..

You could update to 3.50 and use the DNS trick to get what you want from the store, (I havent tried the store yet though) and then downgrade back to 3.41 since the downgrader has now been released...

Or even Jam some GT5 then downgrading later

My cousin is using it ATM as I never had a console with 3.41
Its a minimus V1. cheap as hell to get and is all you need ATM for whats out. Cost me $15 (It comes caseless though, but you can buy a case for around 8bux). Psgroove is working on my cousins console... Hes going to be guttered when I pick it up this weekend and try the new Downgrader...

Yeah no homebrew post exist yet, I might put 1 up once I get to play with my minimus and can share first hand experience. (unless already gets done)

Also I bought mine through a NZ mod site, but doesnt have anything about international postage... He has like 1200 units to get rid of why its cheap (So he has told me)
