Project cafe

Nintendo has a new console coming out going by "project cafe" for the time being. It's been officially announced by nintendo (ign has article) and is supposed to be even more powerful than xbox and ps3. Will be interesting to see how it pulls up. Going to keep an eye on how it goes.

This could be big if they start producing mature games rather than just kids games. I presume that's what they're going for considering they're upping it's performance rate.

Gunn, Nintendo Japan confirmed that they have a new, more powerful console. Its being shown off at E3 this year and will be playable. Its in the article linked.

This is interesting. I didn't expect Nintendo to be first through the door, but they have been running out of steam for quite some time so I understand. They just have to make sure that their hardware competes with the other 2 and I don't just mean PS3/360, but sony and Microsoft's next gaming machines. Yes, Nintendo have to move away from their "kiddie" image and embrace adult gamers as well. I will be interested in seeing the playable console at E3.

As long as its not just gonna be Mario HD or 3D.
I dont mind kiddy games, as long as they are good and not just the shovelware or 20 year old rehashes that they have been producing lately.

Its called the Wii U.

Crap name. lol.

It features a controller that looks like an ipad in that it houses screen that you receive gameplay from the console (cant use it outside your home). The console itself is full HD and apparently more powerful than this gen HD consoles. Games like Batman AC, Aliens Colonial Marines etc have been announced for it. Its backward compatible with the wii and comes out in 2012.

I don't know what to make of it. Using this ipad controller looks too large and cumbersome for games. What does everyone think?

Im not too sure what to make of it.

I like the idea of the controller displaying inventory (in the Zelda clip) so you have an uninterrupted full screen but the rest was just a bit too gimicky for my liking.

And WTF is with them showing their Mii games. It looks shit and makes their system look like a joke. The preview of the Wii U was not thought out very well.

I wont be buying one.
