Second hand iphone 3G cost.

Im just wanting to get some second opinions on this. My girlfriend (in her teens like me, not an adult) was offered a raise for the holiday work she was going to do. It's pretty casual and she gets paid in bulk at the end. She's been wanting a new iphone for a while but her rents weren't going to fork out for the cap so she was in a dilemma. Anyway, her boss got a new iphone 4 recently and said instead of giving her the rise he'd giver her his 2 year old Iphone 3G on top of the average pay. She took the iphone instead of the rise, which i honestly think is extremely stupid (raise was going to be between $100-150).
What do you guys think of this and how much would you expect a 2 year old iphone to go for? Considering her boss was going to get rid of it anyway, he managed to pocket her raise and got rid of an old phone in the process. Am i the only one that thinks she was dumb to take it?

Yeah bad idea on her part unless she is planning on leaving in the next couple of months?! (lol, imagine what her parents would say!)

should of gone for the pay rise. then she could buy a brand new iphone sometime in the near future

Hold onto that girlfriend mate. You'll have no problem convincing her that she will enjoying cooking and cleaning up after you.

She is going to regret that decision quite a bit but in our teens we all make some stupid decisions. They need to happen or we never learn. It's nothing life changing, but she'll know in the future not to allow that sort of shit to happen.

Yeahh i told her to go the raise but to no surprise the phone looked better in her eyes. Oh well. Just needed a second opinion on things so i didn't feel like i was the only one who saw this.
