I have had it for the last 3 months and I can say it is very good. Much better than Vista and XP. It's got a similar GUI 'Aero', but Windows 7 does it so much better.

The task-bar is pure awesomeness. Just pin your favorite applications to it and you can easily run them. It basically replaces the desktop on a whole new level.
The UAC is no longer a problem, it is much less obtrusive, if you choose to keep it enabled.

You won't believe how much Aero Snap helps you. Dragging a window into the side of the screen automatically halves it so that you can have two documents up or two websites up to compare.

A new very cool feature in Windows 7 Professional is 'Windows XP Virtual Machine'. You basically install 'Windows XP only' programs into this Virtual Machine and they can be run out of the taskbar like any other application, albeit with Windows XP's files and GUI.

It's much more user friendly, and already has a lot of compatibility with other apps as Windows Vista drivers work.

I would definitely agree with it being a real step forward, would never go back to XP nor Vista. Highly recommended.

RC (Release Candidate for about 2 months) and then RTM (Release to Manufacturer (eg. Dell); basically retail).

Haven't had a chance to actually play with the retail release but it would be similar, if not identical to the Release to Manufacturer.

I have it, I did not pay shit for it. I downloaded a 7600 retail version and found a nifty little program that automatically renews the 30 day trial period every second forever so I never have to worry about that windows genuine crap. This also prevent windows from locking me out.

They stole that task bar or whatever bar, the thing at the bottom that holds active programs from the MAC computers.

It runs way better than any version of Windows, that is for sure. Makes Vista look more like the garbage it was.

The programs? or the actual networking?
Maybe has something to do with the TCP/IP values in WIndows 7 (MTU, etc).
