Seems the official PS3 forums are down? anyone else getting user name and password request

yes, this is really weird.. i know it is maint but like cap said they have never ever before requested a user name and password...
they must be doing something big to the forums, hopefully..

Before it began asking for a username and password there was a screen saying they would be doing maintenance and would be back shortly.

I will not be using them anymore

I can't use them because it takes about 10 minutes for them to load and another 10 for each thread page...

It is only slightly slower for me.

Anyone else finding it difficult to post on there from mobile. I thought they would make it easier for this kind of posting but it appears to involve more steps. The emoticons loaded but I couldn't seem to use them again.

yeah, also the menu button e.g. to mark all read, doesn't work on my iPhone.
it is mind-numbingly slow to load on iPhone (and not much better on PC/laptop)

I can't understand why they 'upgrade' to something with worse functionality. I'm not technologically minded at all but surely they should know that so many people communicate via mobile/iphone/etc - and so develop for this.
