firstly, you are an airman 1st class, and secondly, the ranks work with the amount of posts you have done, not the points

Yes it does, and you can also 'thanks' are counted as 3 kudos, and red next to your name is negative kudos of course.

if you see that next to someones post it means you have the ability to kudos them - either positively or negatively

Yes you can only thank someone in a topic that you created, and only once per topic.
