Jailbreaking your iPhone

Post  capnwpac on Wed Mar 31, 2010 2:05 pm

Has anyone done this? I was thinking about it and found a process here: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/how_to_jailbreak_your_iphone_to_os_30.php

I just wanted some insight from anyone who has done this.

Worth it?

Don't know anything really but unless it gives amazing benefits there is no way I would risk potentially screwing up my phone, voiding warranty and getting stuck with no phone and a contract to pay off.

There are a heap of third party apps you can get, along with simple changes like custom message tones, custom backgrounds and other things.
might try it tonight.

It gives amazing benefits.

There is no way you can potentiality screw up my phone or void warranty. If your iPhone doesn't work after the jailbreak you can just do a system restore.

Super is right, not stuffing around with hardware so won't void a warranty.

I would like to hear from someone who has done it, have you super?

don't fuck around with your iphone...

my backup data cannot be used because 3gs' have some weird issue with apple no longer signing off on a restore back to 3.0 firmware. fucken cocksuckers

i lost everything, EVERYTHING

on top of that i am now stuck with firmware 3.1.3 and it hasn't got a decent jailbreak program that i can find yet

can't even fucken downgrade to firmware 3.1.2 which is what i need to jailbreak it

fuck apple!

ok..... little over reaction

managed to get my back-up back... had to restore it to factory settings then restore with my settings, scary shit.

super, i feel retarded. do you know a way that i can get my iPhone 3gs updated from firmware 3.0 to 3.1.2.
i can not do it, keep getting the error "This device isn't eligible for requested build"

i am too tired, and spent far too long on this stupid issue

if you have anything bar a 3gs, jailbreaking seems very simple. just make sure you have firmware 3.1.2 and download and run blackra1n
the are heaps of tutorials on youtube, it takes about 12 seconds to jailbreak your iPhone.
if you have a 3gs and currently are running 3.1.2, then just do the same, it'll work fine.

There are a few programs around that allow you to install a firmware upgrade onto your ipod or iphone.
Even a lower firmware version.

Such as 3.12 when you have 3.13.

It's what I had to do when I jailbroke my 32gb touch.

Hey brad is that that untethered or what ever its called jail break? I heard its all you can do so far with a 32 n 64gb 3g touch?
Is it annoying to always run that so called program every time you turn it on?

I have one, but waiting for a full jailbreak hack for 3g to come out...

What programs allow you to do that brad? Any links?

Yeah tethered seems odd.. But I could put up with it, I never turn my phone off anyway
