Re: Parents
One of my staff is always saying the same thing about her parents. They even tried to send her to some private boarding school overseas because she failed a test - or so she says.
I actually love my parents very much. I regularly visit them and go to them for advice.
Don't know how bad your parents are, but I'm sure you'll feel differently about them as you get older. Most people get to an age where they feel constricted by their parents ways. That's usually the time they move out. I'm guessing you still live with them, right?

Re: Parents
I was kicked out of home at 17.
I jumped around between various friends/rentals and girlfriends.
At the time I also had the same level of spite that you currently have, this changed for me as I grew up and realised that they did mean the best even if they had a strange way of showing it.
Chin up mate, things could be a lot worse that they currently are.
Head down, finish school and go straight out into the workforce, this will give you the financial stability and confidence to move out on your own.

Re: Parents
Tim!!!!!!!! Nearly all teenagers have moments where they feel like they hate their parents - actually my 5 year old even said it to me once (made me cry for hours). But Aaron is right, they are only trying to help you succeed in life. Maybe they've got regrets about not finishing school and that's why they want you to give it a real go and do your best.
Just take a deep breath, step back for a minute, and then imagine yourself in their position. They love you more than anything in the world, they want you to be all that you can be, and they are doing their best to help you achieve that.
... and no, you can't move in with us

I argue with my old man from time to time, but we joke around a lot more though. Mum's easy going.

Re: Parents
Trust me, Sparton. The world is very different place when you go out on your own for the first time. Try to think about the positives. Yeah, you might want to strangle them right now, but they have given you a place to live and food to eat. I know that's so cliche but it's true. I remember when I was quite young seeing my mother skip meals because we didn't have enough to eat. I didn't think anything of it then, but now I really admire her for her courage as a single parent. I feel pretty guilty about hating her when I didn't get my way in high school because I know she did everything for me.
Sorry about the preaching but you need to realise everybody goes through this and you're actually a better person if you can admit to yourself they love you and want the best for you.

Re: Parents
I don't get to play ps3 at all these next couple of weeks because my brother is doing bad at school.
Me? I'm finishing all my assignments, getting great grades for my subjects and I have to suffer because my parents think that taking away the ps3 will help him to concentrate. Yeah right, he just does nothing instead, or goes on the pc or goes to a friends house.
So encouraging to know you can do all the hard work in life and be shat upon by the higher ups.

(In response to Maccaz)
Yeah, it's funny how a lot of parents will give so much attention to the sibling who's not doing as well and make the good one suffer.
