Hidden Costs with Importing? (EBAY etc)

Post  MARSTA-J on Tue Jun 22, 2010 8:23 am

Ive never imported a thing in my life...

But theres something i want to get from this guy...

http://myworld.ebay.com.au/mydashop/

So its in AU currency right? I guess thats not that hard to estimate NZ price.

But he states on all his stuff (Free shipping) (I think the actualy product is in hong kong or taiwan)

Now since im in NZ... Is it really free shipping for me? Or will i be getting some extra hidden costs chucked in somewhere?

Click on the postage tab and see how much it says shipping is. If nothing is displayed, just send the seller a message and ask him.

yeah just send him a msg. All the free shipping stuff from the U.S is always only within the U.S. So china may be the same.

I got hit with $450 import tax on about $3000 worth of tools from the U.S. Didn't know about it until it got to customs. They wouldn't release the tools until i paid.

Anything over $1000 Au the buyer has to pay the import tax. Shit sux. The tools are 30% cheaper from over there.

So if you had imported it bit by bit? you wouldnt of had to pay that extra tax price?
