Re: Julia Gillard
Compelling argument.
I for one think the labour party is not such a bad competitor for the 1970s version of a political party in for the liberals right now. It is a tough pick.
JG is actually quite smart and very likeable, it is a pity that she has the team that she does. Hopefully we will see a change in cabinet.
Also, she is not PM, yet.
She is caretaking the role.

If you are going to say labour fucked the economy then don't bother, Australia actually faired very well in the GFC.
Just so everyone knows, I am not a labour fanboy, I voted for Johnny last time. I just think that you should put reasoning behind your choice.

Cap in 10 years when you are paying off a house you will wish Kevin Dudd didn't spend all the money he has. We have faired ok at the moment but man alot of the money that was coming was set up by howard in the first place. I got heaps more if you want?

Yeah man. I also didn't like K.Rudd but I dislike the whole "we are stuffed for no reason that I really know anything about" attitude.Balirun wrote:Cap in 10 years when you are paying off a house you will wish Kevin Dudd didn't spend all the money he has. Also, with a home loan I would never get variable, never. You can't correctly budget on a variable rate.
How's the bday goin?

I voted for Rudd, because I wanted Rudd in, not backstabbing Gillard.
I agree we fared very well with the GFC thanks to Rudd. I think he's been great.
I think it is shit how we are forced to vote to have our say and we get our pick and when things go slightly sour, they can just change our leader without consulting the people.
Part of the reason they went sour on Rudd was because of some the policies he supported, divided the labour party. But his policies were backed up by Gillard. So if they HAD to dump Rudd, if they want change, they should not have nominated Gillard or Swann.
It doesnt make sense. They just want to be like America and have a controversial leader. I think it wont work out, just a gimmick to boost their flagging polls against the libs.
I agree with Tom where he said she is intelligent. No doubt. But if Kevin couldnt make it work, I dont think she can. Not that there's much selection from the libs either. They just put in a very slightly more attractive version of Pauline Hanson (haha controversial right there)

Re: Julia Gillard
You only have to look at the decisions Gillard has made as Education minister (or more to the point decisions she hasn't made) to know that she cannot be relied upon to run a country.

Re: Julia Gillard
yeah man. There has been so much federal money wasted up here in the N.T. Some builders are getting up to $800 000 to build a house out bush. It's created work for me though. Julia reckons she can get Australia back in surples by 2013. How can she do it? all the money they have spent isn't going to provide income. Not like Howard and co who built things that created money. There was never more work around while howard was in. He looked after big business and in turn created thyousands of jobs. I just hate the fact that obviously rudd wasn't powerful enough and shadows really control it. That is crap. It's no way to treat a prime minister of this country. (even if he is a dick)
@cap- b day has been sweet as man, thanks.

This is what my quote was about.
The government is just throwing money away down our way.
No quotes equals 2.4 million for 2 portable classrooms and a cola.

Re: Julia Gillard
Thanks trist, I like to see that people are putting reasoning behind their decisions.
Right now it is going to be a hard pick. I think gillard would have preferred stay deputy, less scrutiny as deputy. If the party is unhappy with their leader then we as a country can not be happy with the leader. We vote for the party, everyone knows this. If I voted liberal, it would not be based on Tony Abbott.
I personally am not really fussed because it seems we have a tough pick, but not because both parties are offering too much, but rather that we have to worry about the short comings of each party.
Gillard is a fantastic public face, but I am unsure whether she is a good leader and delegator. I am leaning towards Labour right now as long as they get rid of Conroy (the guy trying to push Internet filtering) and the SPT.
The whole thing about the Liberals cleaning up the budget has proved true thus far, but I actually think Swan is capable of pulling off a decent budget, albeit boring.
I would love to see the Liberals make a come back, they just are a mess right now though. Who here can say they want Abbott as PM? He would be our George W.
I think what will happen is Gillard/Labour will win and the party will be run by others, with Gillard being it's face doing the publicity side of things. Not such a stupid move.
Please, more discussion.
